Analysis of the Poem “I am Corona”

The Poem ‘I am Corona’ written by Prof. Amar Chandra Das is an impressive way to showcase the changes that took place around the world during the pandemic. The poem is both striking and positive. In the beginning, it makes us realize our selfishness and ignorance towards the earth and nature but progressively it also appreciates the endeavours of mankind to fight the odds in unison (Silvest, Regin & Ryan, John, 2020). The poem ends with the hope that everything will get normal again if people abide by the basic obligations of wearing the mask and maintaining social distance. "Creation will bloom in place of ruin; Never be disheartened, at next dawn, you must win." Stanza from the poem reflects the cyclical events that whenever the world faced such a major catastrophe, it has evolved better and stronger. Coronavirus has made the world stand together and come nearer by staying at a distance. People have learned to value life. The author must have intended to draw the reader’s attention towards the ignorance of humankind towards the nature that has resulted in such a lethal reaction but simultaneously he does not want us to lose all hope and directs us towards the positive outlook of the future.

The author's chosen style is striking and leaves the reader to contemplate his actions that might have been against nature's cycle. The man is posted on the top of the creation that led humankind to take advantage of all the components, animals, and natural resources without maintaining a righteous balance. The author's style attracts the reader and facilitates engagement till the end (Wink, 2020). The purpose of the poem must be to draw the attention of the reader towards the pandemic's cause and effect and how they can facilitate better safety and security. The poem is short, simple, and in laymen’s language that is easy to comprehend. From this, we can discern that the poet has successfully made the general people/readers aware of their actions without compromising on the positive outlook (Silvest, Regin & Ryan, John, 2020).

The contemporary outlook of society is propelling individualism and wealth creation. This has led to the mass destruction of natural resources. The poet belongs to India, where the pollution level is high, people are not concerned about their health and hygiene. Adherence to law goes in vain. the whole burden is on the medical infrastructure. People need to understand the vitality of wearing masks and maintaining social distance because medical infrastructure is not developed to support such a huge mass (Silvest, Regin & Ryan, John, 2020). “Prevention is better than cure” is something that people need to understand and realize. Culture plays an important role in strengthening the societal background. If people become cautious and take necessary measures, all this can be controlled in a structured way and people can prevent themselves from a major loss. The interpretation of the poem is simple and thought-provoking. The poem in its cultural context has a universal message to balance our needs without destroying natural resources (Wink, 2020).

Analysis of the Nursing Report

Nursing Report on ‘The Nursing Student Self-Efficacy Scale Development Using Item Response Theory” discusses the optimization of students’ efficacy by the use of Item response theory. It aims at reporting the evidence-based item response theory model to determine the effectiveness and reliability of the model across the setting including 421 nurse students. Self-efficacy is a great driver of the beliefs in nursing and enables a nurse to take specific decisions. Calibrating their efficacy appropriately is also required to take the most accurate decisions (Stump, Husman, and Brem, 2012). IRT model facilitated the analysis and interpretation of scores and reliability of self-efficacy and learning of these participants. The author intended to convey the role of self-efficacy and the correlation of knowledge-based application of certain alternatives. Furthermore, it discussed the role of latent trait level of practitioners evolved out of their patterns of responses (Croy et al., 2020).

The meticulous research carried out by scholars to determine the effectiveness of the IRT model in self-efficacy data while presenting the item information and other assisting information through graphical means showcases the systematic approach adopted by the scholars. In contrast to the IRT model, the CTST model was also used to draw the comparison between the two models in determining the accurate results (Stump, Husman, and Brem, 2012). The paper discusses the inability of the traditional CTST model to result in precise visual impression and depiction of information regarding the reliability of self-efficacy among the practitioners' information. The major advantage as stated by scholars was the meticulous interpretation and analysis of both an individual item and the whole test including the standard error information using the IRT model. The effectiveness of these two models was studied with the relative factors affecting the self-efficacy of practitioners (Croy et al., 2020).

However, the paper gives a little implication in the context of the cultural and historical means. The paper uses the traditional CTST model to compare it with the IRT model that depicts the evolution of the medical model of determining practitioners' efficacy. The analysis and interpretation have become more structured and use complex means for deriving the accuracy of the study. Historically, the model to determine the efficacy of the practitioners was limited due to the omission of a relative theory and graphical representation of human behavior and trends that lead to a decision on healthcare practice (Croy et al., 2020). The choices that these practitioners make are vital in the holistic care of the patient. It includes the consideration for ethics, the seriousness of the issue, and the speed of making a decision. Therefore, determining the efficacy leads to the choice of appropriate tools and techniques to enhance the trait level and knowledge of practitioners. A noble profession like nursing needs utmost precision and a balanced approach of emotional and practical approach that is constituent of a person's emotional quotient. The models researched upon gives useful insights about the behavioral pattern and efficacy. The paper successfully evaluates the appropriateness of IRT as a model to ascertain self-efficacy scale development (Stump, Husman, and Brem, 2012).

Analysis of the Newspaper Article

In the newspaper article, “Digital nursing documentation system to be rolled out across Wales”, the exhortation of technology is highlighted in the nursing industry. The article published in NursingTimes and written by Megan Ford depicts the need for time effectiveness of the documentation process. The paper provides useful insights into the integration of technology in the medical industry and how it aims to achieve the effectiveness of documentation. The recruitment of skilled developers for the Welsh Nursing Care record will facilitate the adult care environment. the system integrates the healthcare facilities across Wales by maintaining a digital record of the patient as he is discharged from the center (Krakau et al., 2021). The standardization of nursing documents aims at a holistic care system of patients and facilitates nursing. The program was funded by Welsh Government and aimed at eliminating erroneous report making and duplication of data by effective use of digitization. However, some units are still left to adopt digital means of documentation but it will be completed by the next summer (Ford, 2021).

The intend of the article was to drive the focus of the reader towards the automation of activities in the healthcare segment and how it is likely to achieve the goal of holistic care of patients and at the macro level, of the public in Wales. It also showcases the determination of the Welsh Government to intervene in the healthcare infrastructure to aid nursing and the care of its public (Krakau et al., 2021). The style of the writer is formal as it should be while providing news to facilitate the information among the public. The choice of vocabulary is appropriate to suit the comprehension ability of a layman. The purpose of the article was only to inform the reader about the changes in the documentation of nursing reports by the integration of digitalization. This purpose has been fulfilled by keeping the article precise, easy, and engaging (Ford, 2021).

The social implication of the article lies in the determination of the government and the healthcare system to facilitate effective care and the health of people. Society will be greatly benefitted from this method of documentation as it will speed up the choices of healthcare practitioners and time will not be wasted in gaining information about the history of the patient (Krakau et al., 2021). This article will ensure the reader about the healthcare infrastructure in Wales and the reader will become more confident. This will make the documentation a reliable source for other institutions as well where the documents will be provided and hence the patient need not take files along with him everywhere he goes. The digitization will enable the store of large databases and therefore the reliance on erroneous traditional ay of documentation will be eliminated (Ford, 2021).
