ROUTE DESCRIPTION

This is important for the airline to maintain productivity in business. To improve the productivity of business this is important for the operation management of the airline to focus on the business customers to maintain profitability and retain regular customer. For this flight to Brussels is considered for suggesting more information and provide better assessment of the process. Airbus 320 is the flight that is regularly operating to Brussels. On each day, this flight is performing two round trips. This schedule of aircraft is based on the number of passengers are travelling to Brussels. As airline is focusing on the business customers. So, on week day's schedule of flight is same but in weekends, flight schedule is quite different. On Saturday, Airbus 320 only have one round tour to the Brussels in morning and on Sunday there is only one flight is scheduled which is at 8:00 PM. This is how by this process airline is targeting business customer who is regular to the particular route. In weekdays, the first departure of flight Airbus 320 is at 2:00 Am and it takes around 5 hours to reach Brussels. The other flight that is scheduled in weekdays is at 8:00 PM and it takes 5 hours to reach London. This is how route of Airbus 320 is fixed for 4 days a week, which is twice a day. On Saturday, the Airbus 320 is scheduled for the flight to the Brussels at 8:00 Am and it takes 5 hours to reach Brussels. On Sundays, the schedule of Airbus 320 is at 8:00 PM to Brussels. This is how same flight is targeting business customers on weekday and leisure customers on weekends. This is how airline has planned to keep its operations beneficial. For the February and March, Schedule of Airbus 320 is in morning 6:30 AM. It takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach Brussels. On Tuesday and Wednesday Aircraft 2 have flight to Brussels in Evening at 5:00 PM. This flight also takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach Brussels. On Thursday Airbus 320 have 1 flight to Brussels at 3:30 PM. It also takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach Brussels. ROUTE EVALUATION

Related Aeronautical Information

Aeronautical information service is established to support civil flights around the world to ensure the transaction of information effectively. This effective transaction of information is important to maintain safety considerations effectively. Aeronautical information is provided to the airlines in form of a circular that is consist of information related to technical, administrative and legislative considerations that are important for the flight(Huang, Xie and Mendonca, 2020). This circular also consists of range of information that can help the flight crew to take proper considerations to keep the flight process safe and secure as per the law. For the flight, Airbus 320, from London to Brussels flight crew have to consider Aeronautical Information Manual provided by both countries to keep operations legal. This manual is consists of all the information that is needed to be followed by the flight crew.

Regulatory Requirement to Operate in the Route

In the aviation industry, this is important for the airline and flight crew to consider various considerations to perform various flight operations effectively. Major regulations that are needed to be followed by the flight crew are related to the safety and security regulations. These regulations are most crucial in the aviation process. There is range of safety and security frameworks are considered by the airline and flight crew to maintain safety and security in operations. All the ground and in-air operations are considered in these considerations and regulations to keep complete process safe and secure for people on board. All the security regulations and guidance in the UK are developed and detailed by the CAA(Fang, O'Young and Rolland, 2018). This association is providing guidelines to improve the Aviation Security policy of country. This is how guidelines provided by these associations need to be considered by the flight crew and ground staff to keep all operations safe and secure.

Aircraft Limitations and Requirements

There are some limitations Airbus320 have that can affect the operations of the aircraft in certain condition. This is a narrow body jet so the arrangement made in the aircraft don not have many options. This control mechanism of Airbus 320 is different from other airlines so pilots are needed to be trained effectively on the plane. Due to narrow space, this is difficult for the airlines to provide capability to the passengers to carry more bags. Passenger capability is lower as compare to Airbus 321. As compared to other aircraft, Airbus 320 has limitation in maximum weight in take-off situation (Young, 2017).Thrust generated by aircraft is also low as compared to the aircraft of the same specification. Some changes are required in Airbus 320 are related to the control system. Control of the aircraft can be improved to offer better comfort to the pilot.

Flight Preparation and Routing

In the flight preparation, different stages are needed to be considered by the airline that is related to documentation processes, troubleshooting the aircraft, analyse the weather conditions and flight route need to be considered by the flight crew to keep complete process error-free. This is important to complete all these preparation to maintain high safety measures during the flight. Weather information and flight route information can help the pilot to prepare mind-set for the complete flight(Alodhaibi, Burdett and Yarlagadda, 2017). The routing information is provided to the pilot on monthly basis and all the flights are scheduled on basis of passenger forecasting and demand. Routing of the aircraft is also provided to the pilot in advance.

Flight Scheduling Challenge and Solution

Different challenges are faced by the airline in-flight scheduling process. Majorly these issues are related to unexpected delays and flight cancellations. This is major problems that are faced by airlines and flight crew n regular basis(Sternberg and et. al., 2017). The other issues are related to the weather condition and air traffic. Poor weather condition can increase the risk of hazard and delays due to poor weather condition also can lead to financial loss to the airline. The other issue related to air traffic. High traffic can cause delay in take-off. This is how flight scheduling is most critical and difficult process of airlines. Some challenging and uncertain conditions can affect the planning and scheduling of flights. All the issues and challenges in the flight scheduling process can be reduced by using better time management and operation management tool to perform tasks within time. There are some strategic changes also can be made in process to perform operations within time.

Potential Hazard and Disruption Management (for Particular city pair)

There are different possible hazards for flight between departures to arrival. The impact of these issues is different on the safety and security of people. This is important for the management of the airline to consider all these possible risks to take effective action to prevent hazardous situation. Some of the major hazardous situations during the flight are- Controlled flight into terrain, loss of control-inflight, mechanical or engine issues, runway safety-approach and landing, midair collisions, Sabotage or intentional acts, runway safety conflicts, bird of wildlife strikes cabin safety, fatigue and emerging external threats. These are major hazardous conditions that can increase the safety issues for passengers and cabin crew.

Controlled Flight into Terrain- This is a condition in which, complete under controlled aircraft run into obstacles, water, or terrain. In these cases, pilot is unaware of these obstacles or terrain initially. This type of situation can cause major loss to the aircraft and people who are in aircraft this is highly typical situation because pilots are not aware of this condition until it is too late.

Loss of Control Inflight- This is also a common issue that is identified in the aviation accident in which pilots of aircraft lost control over aircraft temporarily or completely. In this condition, aircraft goes out of control of the pilot. Stalling and deviation in the flight path are major conditions that are results of loss of control inflight(Schultz, 2018). It could be a result of failure of any mechanical or control system. This is a fatal condition for all people who are on board of aircraft.

Mechanical or Engine Issues- This is also a common issue that is found in many investigations of the air crash. There are different type of mechanical issue can lead to fatal aviation accident. These mechanical issues can affect the aircraft controlling system or it can affect the ability of the aircraft to fly. Major issues that are commonly spotted in aircraft are- Faulty design, poor weather condition faulty maintenance, pilot error, manufacturing flaw and failure of any mechanical part of the aircraft. In major cases, major reason of aviation accidents is considered as failure in one or more mechanical devices or sensors of aircraft. For example, AOA (Angle of Attack) sensor failure can affect the measurements that are provided to the flying pilot and this can mislead the pilot to take the wrong step as preventive measure. In case of Boing 373 Lion air crash, malfunctioned AOA sensor was major reason for crash.

Runway Safety-Approach and Landing- During the flight, landing, and take-off are most critical situations of the flight. As compared to take-off, landing is much difficult operation. At time of landing range of things are need to be considered by the pilot to perform safe landing. For example aircraft speed, altitude, slope of runway, and weight of aircraft, length of runway, landing distance, flap setting, wind speed, and surface of runway. All these information need to be considered by the pilot to make the aircraft land successfully. Any minor calculation mistake or wrong consideration can affect the landing process. This situation also can lead to fatal accident.

Mid-Air Collisions- This type of cases are rare in the aviation industry. In major cases, reason formid-air collision is either malfunctioned sensors or human factor. These are major reason for mid-air collision. Misleading information provided by sensors can make the pilot take the wrong action and it can lead to collision between two aircraft on same height. In other condition, mid-air collision could be result of human factor(Itoh and et.el., 2019). Misleading information provided by air traffic controller can lead to major accident. In some of mid-air collision cases, communication and misleading information was reason of accident.

Sabotage or Intentional Acts- This type of cases are also rare in the aviation industry. In these cases, aviation accident is result of an intentional act of people on-board. This type of hazard put the life of people at high risk. This is important for the airline to consider proper measures to keep passengers safe and secure from these type of situations.

Runway Safety Conflicts- This type of hazards can be considered as collisions of aircraft with objects or other aircraft in taxiway. This is major human factor that can cause major financial loss to the airline and it also can cause damage to the aircraft that can lead to fatal accident.

Bird of Wildlife Strikes- This type of accidents are result of bird or animal strike at time of landing, take-off, approach of landing and approach of take-off. This condition also can lead to fatal aviation accident. Bird strike or animal strike on the engine of aircraft can lead to crash.

Cabin Safety- Cabin safety is most important to prevent major aviation accidents. If cabin crew goes through turbulence or hostile situation than it could be reason forthe following crash. It is important to take effective security measure to avoid these type of accidents.

Fatigue- This type of issue is related to the fitness or health condition of the flight crew. Sometimes health and fitness issue of flight crew can put all passengers at higher risk.

Emerging External Threats- This type of issue is related to the objects that are not related to the aircraft(Yahanan, Febrian and Rahim, 2017). For example, lithium batteries, laser strikes and cybersecurity is also major threat to the pilots of the aircraft.

These are major factors that can lead to major hazard or crash. All these risks and hazardous factors need to be considered by the airlines to avoid major accidents in the process.

Disruption Management- This is critical for the operation management staff at airport to manage departure or arrival of all flights from the airport. Disruption can be explained as situation in which, one cancelled or delayed flight ca affect all the following flights of the day(Bieder and Pettersen Gould, 2020). This is most important for the airlines and airport management officials to perform all the actions as per the schedule of the flights. This can help the airport management to maintain the productivity of the staff. In this process, proper tools and process can be used by the airport management to perform all the operations on time. This is also related to the satisfaction level of the customers. So, airline management must keep all the flights on time.

Safety Management Challenges, Solutions and Equipment Used

Different challenges are faced by the management in maintaining the safety of both flight crew and passengers during the flight. There is range of issues are faced by the airlines in maintaining safety considerations before or during the flight. Major safety considerations that are needed to be considered by airlines and airport security officials. All the challenges that are stated above need to be managed by the airlines, airport safety officials and aircraft crew. All the considerations that are considered by the officials need to be considered under the safety management process to avoid major and minor, all aviation accidents. All the hazardous condition situations and conditions that are analysed above need to be managed. This is highly challenging for the safety management staff to implement safety measures to reduce the number of accidents.Different measures are implemented by the security staff to reduce aviation accidents. It is much easier to implement safety measures on risk factors that can be analysed before the take-off. For example, security check, luggage checking, aircraft safety analysis, aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, controlling, and monitoring of processes. All these operations are implemented to keep the aviation industry safe from accidents.

Major challenges in safety management are related to planning, communication, and quality management. Planning of operation is major challenge in the safety management process. Most of times aircraft accidents are result of unpredictable condition or error. This is difficult to develop plan to manage safety of aircraft and passengers(Kumar and Xu, 2017). Communication is also one of major challenge in the safety management process.Poor communication measures can affect the safety procedures and plans that are developed by the airport safety staff. The other issue that is faced by the aviation in safety management process is related to human errors and faulty tools. These factors can affect the safety management process in the safety management process. These are major challenges that are faced by operation management staff in safety management,

Solutions

The solutions that are needed to be implemented in the safety management process to avoid all type of hazards. In safety management, process three steps must be followed to keep the operations of aircraft safe. These steps are- Planning, Communication and Quality control. These steps are key measures to avoid safety issues in airline operations. In the planning process, range of forecasting process can be considered by the airline to deal with various hazardous cases efficiently. As per the past experiences and knowledge, specific plans can be developed to avoid accidents and safety issues. For example, as per the results of the risk assessment process, different measures can be prepared by the airline to reduce the chances of aviation accidents. This planning stage is considered of all the steps that are related to the risk associated with the operations. The other measure that is needed to be considered by airlines is communication. The effective communication system can be developed to deal with information effectively. Communication is most important part of the aviation industry(Kumar and Xu, 2017). It is most important to develop effective communication in the operation management process for better transaction of information. Effective communication process can help the airlines and airport safety staff to keep people safe.
