For addressing the chosen organizational issue and for examining this issue in detail the researcher focuses on using different sources of data. In this research, the researcher will make use of the secondary data collection method and will collect the secondary data from the sources such as books, journals, articles, and other literature sources(Black, 2019). Qualitative data is being collected in the present research which would help in getting better-detailed knowledge regarding the chosen organizational issue. The chosen is more theoretical due to which the researcher had chosen these sources and the research will focus on collecting different types of data.

Using your textbook, please explain the 5 stages data science process as aplanned process. (100 words)

The five stages of the data science process as a planned process are explained below such as:

  • Data requirement gathering: data requirement gathering is referred to the process of gathering a list of all the requirements which are necessary for the data collection related to the organizational issue.
  • Data collection:Data collection is the process of collecting the data for addressing the issue which is being examined.
  • Data cleaning: in this stage, the data is being prepared for analysis.
  • Data analysis:in this stage, the data is analyzed so that better decisions can be made in the organization.
  • Data interpretation: interpreting the data is referred to as data interpretation.

Please describe the differences between primary and secondary data sources and give two examples of each from your workplace linked to the organisational issue you are examining. This can include examples such as e-mail surveys, questionnaires, observing, interviewing, focus groups, reports, other sources etc. (200 words)

The major difference between the primary and secondary data sources is explained below:

Primary data sources:

  • When the data is being collected by the researcher only and first-hand information collected then it is referred to as primary data.
  • Different sources of primary data sources include interviews, observations, questionnaires, and surveys(Loomis, & Paterson, 2018).
  • For addressing the organizational issue the primary data sources can be used such as surveys and interviews of the employees and the managers of the company.
  • For example, the e-mail survey or the questionnaire survey can also be conducted for collecting the data for the organizational issue.

Secondary data sources:

  • When the data is being collected from the literature which is already published then it is known as secondary data.
  • The researchers can use different secondary data collection sources such as books, journals, review articles, censuses, and the secondary data can also be obtained from blogs and websites as well.
  • In the present study if the researcher focuses on collecting the data by using secondary data sources that the sources such as books, journals, and articles can be used and this can provide high-quality theoretical data relevant to the research study.

SECTION TWO

ANALYSE DATA, IDENTIFYING PATTERNS AND ANOMALIES

Describe what "desk research" is and its uses and limitations in data analysis in relation to your organisational issue (100 words)

Desk research is generally used for explaining the research in which the researcher uses the secondary data which is already published in the literature for addressing the research topic. Desk research is being used for understanding the concepts in detail and in a cost and time-effective manner. Using desk research helps in exploring the research topic in detail. This is an effective method for examining the concepts related to the chosen organizational issue i.e. employee turnover in detail(Guerin, et. al. 2018). One of the limitations of the desk research is that sometimes the data collected is not exactly as per the requirements.

When the data is being collected that it is important for the researcher to analyze the data in an effective manner so that better results can be concluded for the research study. Different data analysis methods can be used by the researcher for analyzing the data but selecting an appropriate data analysis method is important for the researcher. The analysis method depends on the nature of the data collected for instance different data analysis methods are being used for analyzing the primary and secondary data. The different analysis methods which can be used for data analysis are explained below:

Data Analysis methods for primary data

  • Descriptive Statistics:this method is widely used for analyzing quantitative data. This analysis method is used for identifying the common features among the sample and then they are represented graphically. The most commonly used descriptive statistics are mode, mean, median, range, percentage, and frequency.
  • Text analysis:it is an effective method that is being used for analyzing the quantitative and also the open-ended data which is the hardest to be analyzed. This method is generally used for the unstructured data and by applying this method the data is easily converted into data that can be easily understood(Loomis, & Paterson, 2018).

Data Analysis methods for secondary data

  • Thematic analysis: in this method, the common themes are being identified in the data which is being collected, and then the collected data is representing thematically which makes it easy for the researcher to understand the data.
  • Content analysis: in this method, the data is being collected in the form of content, and in this method, the data is being analyzed by the different concepts and themes which are being identified in common in the collected data.

Describe what the characteristics of good data are (50 words)

The important characteristics of good data are mentioned below such as:

In the present research, the patterns which are being identified from the data collection related to the employee turnover shows that the different management practices are affecting the level of employee turnover, employee motivation, reward system, and organizational culture are the major management practices that are having an impact on the employee turnover(Khalid, & Nawab, 2018). While collecting the data the anomalies found is that all the data collected needs to be stored separately so that it can be easily interpreted and better results can be concluded.

What is the analysis you have conducted telling you? What needs to change, if anything, and why? What insights does this data give the business? (150 words)

The present analysis shows that employee turnover is an important organizational issue that needs to be addressed in an effective manner otherwise it would have a negative impact on the businesses. The insight which is being given by the data is that the businesses need to focus on their culture and all the other factors which are having an impact on employee satisfaction because lack of it can lead the company towards higher employee turnover. The businesses need to provide better pay, better benefits, reward and should create a positive organizational culture which can help them in solving the issue of employee turnover in the company(Loh, et. al. 2019). The way in which the analysis is effective and had helped the researcher in drawing better results but the researcher should focus on using diverse data analysis methods.
