Q 2. Drug use Related Incidents

Discussion on two drug-related events

At present Drug use is one of the most common cultures across the globe, specifically, it has been observed in live events. There are several cases of drug use that are published by the newspaper and media on a daily basis. According to the further report, the percentage of drug use in the UK is around 9.4%. Most of the people under the age group of 35 are using severe drugs in the live events. Cannabis is one of the most common drugs which is used by UK people in live events (Gonzalez-Cuevas et al., 2018). Severe drug use creates a harmful impact on people's health and the entertainment event has been interrupted by this kind of incident.

Figure 1: Drug use among the UK

(Source: Waldron and Curran, 2018)

In May 2017, a severe drug use incident happened at a music festival in Portsmouth. Two young aged people died by taking overdoses of drugs at the Mutiny music festival of Portsmouth. It has been observed that three men were arrested by the police for supplying the class A drugs in this live program. Tommy Cowan and Georgia Jones were the victims who died in this live dance music festival. In this incident, more than 17 people were admitted to the hospital for their severe health issues. The victims were taken to the hospital because of their severe illness. After examining their health Doctors reported that they had drug symptoms and they started to treat them. However, they died at a young age because of these severe drugs (Waldron and Curran, 2018). After this pathetic incident, organizers of these live events had announced the show cancellation through social media platforms. According to the safety of the people is the utmost priority of the event's organizers therefore for the safety reason they have decided to cancel the show. The organizers must be cautious before organizing the live events. A lack of awareness has been observed in this incident. If the organizers have strict security in the events then this kind of severe accident never be occurred in the live programs. According to the report the parents and the families of the victims have collapsed after hearing the news of their children's death.

In 2019, another incident occurred at the Bramham park live event at 3.40 am. A 17 years old girl died from a drug overdose. The West Yorkshire police were called to the festival site after the death of the young girl. After inspecting the sites the police have arrested the 17-year-old boy who was supplying these severe drugs to the young girl. As per the further report, The supplier is currently in jail custody (Morris, 2019). The family of this girl has collapsed after hearing this tragic news. According to the police officers, people have to be more cautious about their health otherwise they have to face these tragic incidents again and again after taking illegal substances. People have to be more aware not to use illegal substances for the well-being of their health. The organizer must take the precaution before starting any live events. Careless behavior can be a reason for the death of young people.

As per the further report, most of the young people in the age group of 18-35 are taking illegal substances in the live events. Moreover, the suppliers can successfully enter the live events to supply this kind of illegal drug to young people.

The way these incidents can be diverted and implementation of health and safety measures

Safety of the people should be the foremost priority of the event organizers therefore they have to be more cautious before organizing any live events. The health and safety measures should have to be implemented (Brooks et al., 2020). They have to prohibit drug supply in their events. They have to implement the police presence with sniffer dogs and they have to allow the random searches of drugs in the events. It can prevent drug use in live events.

Police Presence

The organizers must take the precaution to avoid such tragic incidents in their live events. Police presence has to be there to identify the people who have illegal substances with them. The police presence can be helpful to prohibit drug use from the live events. At present young people are not taking their life seriously. They want to take these substances for healing themselves for the time being however, it can be a severe threat to their health. Police presence is an important step to prevent drug abuse in live events (Kristet al., 2020)

Random Searches

Random searches can be effective to prevent the drug supply in live events. The organizers have to make their plan for the health and safety measures before starting their live entertainment events otherwise they have to face huge trouble for tolerating the drug abuse in their live events. They should implement the random search policy to identify the drug users and suppliers in the event ground.

Increasing Awareness

People have to be careful about their health and safety before taking any illegal substances. In order to prohibit drug abuse, the organizers have to inform people about the consequences of a drug overdose on human health. If people are aware of the severe impacts of the illegal substance the usage of drugs can be reduced not only in live events however in their daily life (Hart, 2017).

Implementing the drug test kits

In order to prevent drug use in the live events, the organizers have to apply the drug test kits to identify the drug users in the live events. By implementing the drug test kits organizer can take action against both the drug supplier and the users. Every person has to accomplish the test before entering the live events ((Gonzalez-Cuevas et al., 2018)).

These effective policies can help to reduce the tragic incidents in live events due to drug overdose. Young people think that drugs can heal their pain however; the illegal substance heals the pain for a time being only. Drug overdose can create a severe impact on their health and safety measures therefore the people have to be aware of the consequences of a drug overdose. Awareness is the significant way to reduce drug abuse across the globe otherwise it can be harmful to the future aspects

Q 3. Key elements for making deal memo of Performance

In order to discuss the performance deal memo the construct of the live performance should have to include five elements: offer, acceptance, consideration, competency, and legal content.

Offer

The offer coins as the reason for the contract between two parties. In the case of live performance, it is seen that the offer describes the place of the engagement and the monetary details of the show. Apart from that, it includes the specific number which helps both parties in identifying the contract amount. Additionally, the thesis describes the basics of the contract that the organizer of the show is offering to the performer. As mentioned by Pebodyet al. (2018), the terms and conditions of the offer are negotiable and can be negotiated on the basis of the demand of the performer.

Figure 2: Main elements of Contract

(Source: Created by Learner)

Acceptance

This is the second phase of the contract, in this phase, the stage performer agrees to the terms and conditions that the event management company is offering. As mentioned by Pebodyet al. (2018), after the acceptance of an offer the performers are not able to negotiate with the terms and conditions of an offer. In this case, the performer will have to provide a signature in order to confirm that the performer is accepting the contract with the existing terms and conditions of the offer.

Consideration

The consideration phase describes the amount to be paid and it also includes the details of the people who are paying for the live performance.

Legal intent

This is the most important part of the contract, this describes the legal terms and conditions of the contract between the two parties. Apart from that this part of the contract also describes the legal terms in case of breaching the contract. As mentioned by Velasquez et al. (2018), legal terms of the contract are important as it enables both the parties in getting an idea about the problems in case of breaching the contract.

Competencies

The competencies of the contract describe that they are of legal age in order to get into contract thus enabling them to gather an idea about the contract. As mentioned by Lowe et al. (2018), the signing of both parties describes that they are involved in the contract. This in turn will create a positive impact on the contract, the competency of the contract describes the terms of the contract.

On the other hand, there are additional terms and condition that the contractor follow those are

  • The performer is signing the contract by itself or on behalf of the performer the agency of the performer is signing the contract. As mentioned by Lowe et al. (2018), this in turn will enable them in improving the relationship between the two parties. Additionally, this term also represents that they are liable for all the terms that are mentioned in the contract.
  • Apart from that the terms and condition of the company include that the vent management of it company will have to pay 50% of the total agreed money in case the contract is canceled after signing the contract (Lowe et al. 2018).
  • Additionally, the performer is not able to cancel the contract until and unless they are facing some serious issue.
  • The event management company will be responsible for the equipment and sound system used by the performer.
  • On the other hand, the contract is not legal until both parties have signed the contract.

This situation describes that in order to improve the contract both the parties sign a legal contract that allows them to maintain the relationship between both the parties.

The contract between the event management company and the live performer will have to be clear and it needs to be transparent as it will have to follow the rules and regulations of the government of the UK

The main elements of a contract is

Part 1: In this stage, it describes the contract between two parties which describe the details of the two parties

Part 2: In the UK the second part of the contract paper describes the background of people who are engaging in the contract. Additionally, it will include the stage name of the performer. Apart from that, it will provide a description of the event management company. This will include the venue, address, and all the basic details of the contract.

Part 3: Part 3 of the contract paper describes the details of the payments. Additionally, it will describe the amount of money that the event management company will pay to the performer. This will consider the money the company will have to pay to the performer.

Part 4: Part 4 includes the cancellation policy of the contract, this mentions that if the event management company cancels the contract before two or three weeks then the company will not have to pay any amount of money to the performer. As argued by Velasquez et al. (2018), however, if the company cancels the contract after that then it will be considered as a breach of contract in which the company will have to pay the 50% of the enemy that is fixed as a total.

Part 5: Force Majuro, this part of the contract describes that if the performer is not able to perform due to any natural calamity or any other thing then no party will be responsible for the failure of the contract (Velasquez et al. 2018).

Part 6: This part considers the security of the performer; in this case, the event manager or Management Company will have to make sure the arrangement of the security is proper.

Part 7: This part of the contract will consider the governing law of the company, after the agreement the contract between two parties will follow the rules and regulations of the government of the UK. This in turn will enable them to successfully complete the program.

Part 8: The miscellaneous part of the contract describes the other parts of the contract, which is considered under the terms and condition of the company.
