Introduction - Developing Employability Skills Through Reflection and Planning

This report is related to the employability skills that I have or need to improve for my future career goals. With the help of this module, I have identified that it is important to develop employability skills according to a specific field in which an individual has an interest. I have developed my employability skills while working in the corporate world and analyze some weak points that I need to improve for my future career goals. I have worked with the Apollo hospitals for a long time which has helped me in enhancing my skills and competence in the nursing field. I have identified that I want to work in the health industry while using my analytical and technical skills so that I can experience things and gain knowledge more about my dream job.

I have found my interest subjects which include psychiatric nursing, medical & surgical nursing, obstetrics & gynecology. The purpose of this report is to identify the strengths and weaknesses and accordingly develop an action plan to improve employability skills. I want to be a part of the health industry where I can treat patients effectively. My interest lies in the medical, surgical, and nursing departments which will give me experience in the corporate world.

Experiences related to my career intentions

I have experienced that my interest lies in the hospitality sector in the nursing department. My educational qualification and professional experiences are related to that only. As I want to improve my employability skills while getting an experience in the hospitality sector. I have gained several types of experiences in the field of the nursing department. As I have worked with the Apollo hospitals in plastic and cosmetic treatment (Bragg, Walsh & Heyeres, 2021). While working in the Apollo hospital, I have identified that several skills are required for an individual to be developed to be a good nurse practitioner. It includes strong communication skills, core competencies, analytical skills, great leadership skills, and so on. I have identified that while working as a nurse in a hospital with various departments, an individual can get lots of experience from a particular industry. I have identified that team coordination is very important to providing an effective service to treat the patients. I have done internships and worked as a professional in the Apollo hospital in which I have found that collaborating with the team members is very necessary to check the activities on time. I have also analyzed that the nurse has to record all the medical records of a patient as well as record the history of the medical treatment so that further treatment can be provided to an individual accordingly (Admiraal et al., 2021). I have performed many diagnostic tests as well while working as a professional in the Apollo hospital. I have analyzed that an individual needs to acquire and learn how to tackle the team members effectively so the objectives would be achieved within the stipulated time. While getting a diploma in the same field, I got to know many things that surprises me a lot. I have learned things that I have not known before and that increase my interests more in the hospitality industry.

I have analyzed while working in a plastic treatment room that I have to do so many activities to help the doctor to treat the patients effectively. I have analyzed that a nurse is responsible for preparing the treatment rooms and sterilizing medical equipment. I have analyzed that my roles and responsibilities also include assisting surgeons with cosmetic surgeries and procedures. It is important to prepare for the treatment in advance in the industry to cure the patient as soon as possible. This is why nurses are playing an important role in the hospital industry. It has been identified that nurses are part of another side of the coin while the other ones are a doctor who are going hand to hand to treat the patient in the hospital. With my experiences, I have learned and improved so many things that will also help me in my future career goals within the same industry. I have analyzed some other activities too which are important to be done by a nurse in a hospital such as preparing patients for anesthesia and operation and supervising patients during their treatment procedure to ensure safety. Scheduling appointments, providing post-operative care, checking patients into the facility, researching new procedures to stay up to the recent medical advancement, assessing skin-related health concerns and problems, and so on.

I have analyzed that this module has helped me to know about my professional experience as well as the development that is more important to make a successful career in the future. During my academic qualification, I have learned that professional experience plays an important role to achieve heights in life. I have identified that my career goals are related to having a challenging position in one of the renowned companies in which I will be able to use my technical as well as analytical skills. With the help of Kolb's reflective cycle, I have analyzed my experience, learning, and knowledge in the nursing field which is important for me to make a good career in the future. This module has helped me to improve my employability skills as per the requirements of my career. I have analyzed that employability skills are the major part of one's life that enables one to achieve success in personal as well as professional life.

I have analyzed that I am not been perfect in the field as I also need an improvement on certain aspects. I have identified that in every field, an individual requires training to polish the skills according to the requirements of the organization. The training has been provided to the people to get to know about the rules and regulations of a particular organization to get the success. I have identified that training is an important part for an individual as well as for an organization because it enables them to get the success in their future career goals also by developing the several skill sets.

In regards to the employability skills, I have analyzed many competencies that are needed to inculcate by a nurse as a profession. I have identified that it is important for an individual to develop skills and abilities according to a particular situation. A nurse doesn't have to possess all the employability skills that are required in the profession of a nurse (McChesney & Aldridge, 2021). I have identified some employability skills that are required by me in the profession of nurse. It includes work psychology, teamwork, communication, self-management, interpersonal skills, information communication & technology, leadership skills, critical thinking & problem-solving. All these employability skills are important for an individual to be a good employee in the eyes of the top management in an organization. After the doctors, nurses are playing a key role in the success of an organization. The main employability skill that is necessary to be developed includes team management, collaboration, and communication skills with self-confidence. If these skills are not present in an individual's behavior, then the nurse may face difficulty in achieving the targets effectively in the hospital.

Strengths and Weaknesses

While working with the Apollo hospital I have found my strengths and the development areas that I need to improve for my future career goals. I have analyzed that self-confidence is my strength with effective communication skills (Krasnova & Shurygin, 2020). This skill has been helping me in communicating with the patients effectively while building strong relations with them. This makes the patients happy and it enables them to cure the diseases quickly. I have analyzed that I have a good computer knowledge with which I can easily handle technical things with my analytical skills. I have analyzed that in the hospitals, patients come from different cities and countries. So, it is a very good opportunity for me to interact with them as I am comfortable talking with the patients in different languages as per their suitability. These are the strengths that I have identified during my internships and my working experience.

Some development areas, I have also found are important to be improved to have a strong image in the organization (Leary et al., 2020). I have analyzed that I have to develop time management skills. Although, I know how to manage time effectively but need some focus on that particular skill to manage things more effectively. I have analyzed another skill that needs improvement in team management skills. I have identified that while playing the role of the nurse in the organization, other several staffs need assistance services. So, for that team management and leadership skills are important.

I have worked with the Apollo hospital where I got to know many policies and procedures for completing the activities on time. I have worked in many departments in the Apollo hospital where I have experienced lots of things that will help in my future career goals.
