The role of a nurse in a Haemodialysis unit is to take care of patients by checking signs and interacting with the patient to provide them proper guidance and treatment. This essay focused on my role as a nurse in a Haemodialysis unit of Sunderland royal hospital. Moreover, it provides proper reflection that helps to analyse the role of a nurse with Gibbs reflective model.

Gibbs reflective model has been used here to understand the different experience in this role of mine, which has helped me to gain idea about my role as a Band 5 nurse. On the other, hand, this model has allowed me to understand how I feel during my work, my capabilities, and performance issue. These aspects are important for me, as it will help me to improve my nursing practices in future.

Description

My role is to provide proper care to the patients as a nurse. It starts with collecting medical history and the symptoms they are facing by proper interaction. Then they properly plan with other units of the Hospital to provide proper treatment to the patients. To understand the diseases, a proper monitoring method needs proper medication and treatment must be included to the patient by interacting with doctors. In addition, nurses support their patients and provide the necessary education to enhance awareness related to diseases (Monas et al, 2017). In contrast, Chaney and Yataco, (2019) argued that nurses utilised their knowledge and experiences and provide effective medical treatment to patients in order to improve their health and wellbeing. Here, I have identified that nurses played significant role to improve health and wellbeing of people by providing them health education and effective treatments.

Feeling

I was very excited before participating in the role of health care professionals or nurses. I feel empowered and satisfied after gathering this information. However, due to lack of proper knowledge regarding this unit, I feel nervous in some points.

Evaluation

In a Haemodialysis unit, I am a Band 5 nursing staff and I have used Gibbs reflective model to evaluate my experience here. According to me as band 5 nurses, we are new in the field of haemodialysis and we are in the stage of gaining new experiences and skills (Fishbane et al, 2017). I have gathered huge knowledge regarding the haemodialysis unit and its importance

Analysis

We need to provide proper education related to the management of kidney and related diseases and provide proper dietary for the patients (Ulrich and Kear, 2018). Regarding this, I can say that have very few knowledge about how to operate the tools.

Conclusion

From above discussion, I conclude that brad 5 Nurse plays an important role in the Haemodialysis Unit of the hospital. They provide a proper plan related to the issue that can arrive at the time of Dialysis from their experiences.

Action plan

I have planned to have some courses, which will help me to gather knowledge and practical experience on these devices, which will help to increase my efficiency as a nurse.

Conclusion

It can be said that Gibbs reflective model played a key role for me in my nursing practice to improve my own skills. Gibbs reflective model was important in this case for my self-evaluation. Furthermore, it can be concluded that they provide proper mental and physical support to the patients at this critical time.
