Introduction to Developing Leadership and Management Skills Assignment Sample
Leadership means the ability to lead, guiding a team and management is a skill of managing organizational activity and employees to attain an organizational goal. In contemporary organization leadership is important to motivate and guides the employees to give their best or to adopts changes with graze, so that goals of the company attain. In addition, managerial skills are crucial to effectively manage company`s activities, foster innovation and enhance operational efficiency. Moreover, self-reflection allows the leader to recognize their strengths and weakness accordingly enables to take activities to sharpen the development areas results in improvement in skill which is crucial for efficiently perform the role in current business environment (Kohn, 2024). The report will evaluate leadership skill via assessment tool and outline a development activity according to area of development.
Section 1: Self-Analysis of Leadership Profile
Assessment Tool
The leadership assessment tool Myers-Briggs and DISC allows me to identify my strengths and area of developments for the role of leader. Myers-Briggs enables the individual in understand own personality in terms of interacting with other, making decision and so more, allows in gain insight of expertise and weakness for performing the role of leader (Choong and Varathan, 2021). In addition, DISC assessment tool allows in recognizes personality of individual by evaluating traits of dominance, influence, steadiness and conscienceless. For analysing the existing leadership profile, I am conducting an assessment test with the help of free test available on the internet. In context to this, I give answer of several step-by-step questions to get outcome for my leadership and management skills.
Analysis
With reference to, Myers Briggs personality test, I get 63% in outgoing and 72% in warm, it demonstrates that I have empathy for others (Myers Briggs Personality Test, 2025). In addition, I analysed that my strengths include effective communication, team work and creativity that is important to leading and motivating the team. Further, referring to the DISC assessment tool, I analysed that my personality trait influence and support have high score representing my efficient empathic, communication ability. On the other hand, via DISC and Myers Briggs identified my development areas such as time-management, decision-making and attention to detail. According to DISC, I got less score in drive and clarity trait while via Myers analysed that I prefers to make decision based on feeling which quite hamper my good decision-making skill.
Section 2: Execution of Developmental Activity
Need
In reference to enhance my development area, a leadership and management activity selected is participation in a training activity. To develop my decision-making, time-management, attention to detail and overall leadership skill, I opt to take training by attaining a workshop. The workshop includes training in terms of role-playing, mentorship, interactive sessions, case studies as well as practical exercise (ARIJANTO et al, 2023). The training activity clearly aligns with my development needs for instance interactive session within training allows me to develop my decision-making and practical exercise helps in enhance time management, leads to make me a competent individual.
The development area of decision-making, attention to detail and time-management required significant attention to make competency of leadership more effective. Focusing on this area allows in increase productivity, decline error and bringing efficiency.
Activity
The development activity include training program, allows in enhance my weak areas. In context to activity, I get training of taking timely decision, managing my time and focusing my concentration results in attaining my overall leadership goals.
Section 3: Reflective Analysis
Experience during the activity
Referring to the Gibbs reflective model, to develop my weak areas I select training as a development activity. During training, my experience was good and satisfactory as I get opportunity to develop skill under experts. The development activity provides training of enhancing decision-making though an interactive session and role-play. In interactive session, group discussion happened to provide learning of quick decision-making while in role-play, real-life scenarios stimulate to develop problem-solving skill and confidence to make decision (Sundgren et al, 2021). However, the training session includes several trainees, create a difficult for me to get timely feedback from trainer about my performance. In addition, the training activity also includes practical exercise for completion of given task in limited time, it allows in develop my time-management and attention to detail.
Hence, the training activity allows me to sharpen my lack areas as well as taking training under the experts positively and proficiently influence my overall leadership skill.
Section 4: Future Leadership And Management Development
From the training activity, I gained knowledge of evaluating dynamic and complex situation, making informed decision under pressure and identifying the root cause of problem. This insight allows me to lead and manage the team in significant manner in future. It allows me to proficiently guide, direct and manage the team. Moreover, from practical exercise I gain insight of delegation of task, scheduling it allows me to complete task on set deadline.
However, identifies that strategic thinking and creativity is additional areas for development, for efficient leadership the abilities are considered as a prime requirement, my long-term career objective is to become an expert and professional leader (Saputra, 2021). Hence, to attain my objective I need to improve my strategic-thinking and creativity skills, it can be done by implementing a continuous development plan, it is as under:

As expressed, continuous self-enhancement is important for efficient leadership as it allows in develop skills, knowledge and capabilities. Through application of assessment tool, identified that communication, empathy and teamwork are my strength while decision-making, attention-to-detail and time-management are my weak areas. However, to enhance by weak area I opt for a development activity i.e. training, it includes training activities like practical exercise, role-play, interactive session and so more. The development activity helps me to develop my skills effectively results in leadership progress.
